Southern Scapes LLC is owned and operated by Karena and Chris Mathias. Chris holds a degree in Landscape and Turf Management from Virginia Tech. He manages landscape design and operations while Karena manages the business side of Southern Scapes.

Chris’ interest in horticulture and landscaping began as a young boy when he helped his mother operate her plant nursery. As football player at Broadway High School, he decided that he wanted to start a landscaping business. He loved Harrisonburg and the Shenandoah Valley and knew there was no other place he would rather launch an endeavor in landscaping. In 2006, he and Karena started Southern Scapes.

For the past decade, Southern Scapes has been making the Shenandoah Valley even more beautiful.
